[Ulysses Septimus]

Ulysses almost smiled when the massive structure they knew as Cadiz came into sight. "I cannot help but agree with you, Commander: as long as it does not impact the Armada in any negative way..."

The "Interceptor" eased itself into Cadiz's docking bay.

With a loud clang of chains, Sentus released the ship's heavy anchor and gangplank, allowing the two officers to step off the ship.

"I suggest you clean yourself up in your quarters, Commander."Ulysses adjusted his feathered tricorne, "I shall send Sentus to bring you the new uniform, before we report back to Lord Kane."

Sydney nodded once before immediately heading in the direction of her quarters, the last of her crazed bloodlust retreating back into its metaphorical cave in order to make way for the refined military manner that she would be presenting to Lord Kane.

Once she had arrived at her quarters, Sydney immediately peeled the blood-soaked coat off, laying it over the back of the chair in the corner of the room, and the rusty, metallic smell of the blood overpowered the atmosphere almost instantly.

There was a knock on the door, and a familiar voice that belonged to none other than Sentus: "Commander, I have brought the new uniform as requested."

The Assassin and Admiral donned his Huntsman garments, sliding his favorite sabre into its sheath attached to his belt, and the wicked triple hook weapon long identified as his trademark in this form.

"Always so messy."He muttered, tossing his slightly torn and bloodstained uniform into a bag. "Luckily I kept this here."

Adjusting his tricorn and hood, Ulysses walked out of his quarters and into the hall.

He would wait for Sentus to report back to him, before heading to the throne room with the newly named Commander to see their king Kane.

Sydney opened the door, taking the uniform from Sentus.

"Excellent. This shouldn't take long." She closed the door before flinging the rest of her now burgundy-stained uniform over the chair, using a damp cloth to remove the dried blood from her neck and hair before quickly getting dressed in the clean uniform, clasping the new belt and sabre that the Admiral had given her around her waist.

Opening the door again, the Commodore walked out of the room and towards the main hall, where the Admiral would most likely be.

[Ulysses Septimus]

Ulysses straightened when he saw the Commodore approaching. "Let us report to Lord Kane."The admiral glanced toward the direction of the Throne Room, "I'm sure he's pleased with our results."

[Sydney Underhill]

Sydney suppressed the wide grin that wanted to surface on her face, settling for a small twitch of the corners of her mouth.

"Yes, I'm sure he will." She then followed the Admiral closely as he walked towards the Throne Room.

[Ulysses Septimus]

"Hail, Lord Kane, Supreme Commander of the Armada, Ruler of Valencia, and future King of the Spiral."Ulysses bowed his head in almost reverence.

"Raise, Lord of Admiralty Ulysses, and I welcome you back Ms. Underhill,"Kane's voice was rich and powerful as usual, "what are the results?"

"We have successfully eradicated the pirates, my lord,"Septimus replied, "Commander Underhill here has the details."

The Supreme Commander nodded, turning his face toward Sydney, expecting an answer.

[Sydney Underhill]

"There were two of them, Lord Kane," Sydney said, unable to, in the end, keep the excitement from her voice. "One of them was a swashbuckler, shallow and arrogant. I destroyed his body completely, I ripped him apart...he's gone. As for the other one, though...he's a privateer named Edward Teach, and he's rather intelligent, which is most likely why he chose to surrender to the Armada. The Admiral and I locked him up on The Destroyer, and we have not caused him any further harm."

[Ulysses Septimus]

"I see,"Kane, if his face could move would have no doubt smiled, gave them another nod, this one of approval, "you have both done well, beyond my expectations even... Optime (Latin: Excellent)... And hmm, as for Teach, I will leave him to the mercy of you and Lord of Admiralty Ulysses, do not disappoint me."

He focused on Ulysses, "My faithful lieutenant, Bishop would like to see you and Ms. Underhill after this: it seemed he had at last found Mercilus' hideout."

[Sydney Underhill]

Sydney looked to Ulysseus questioningly. "Mercilus...you've definately mentioned him before..."

[Ulysses Septimus]

"Yes, and I promised to tell you about him."Ulysses confirmed, then turned to Kane one last time, "Master, may I be excused?"

After recieving an approval, the Lord of Admiralty gestured for her to follow him, leading Sydney out of the Throne Room, to a balcony.

"Mercilus, he is one of my sworn enemies."Ulysses started, "well..." He paused for a brief moment to collect his thoughts.

"You see, I am more than just Lord Kane's trusted servant, I am also the leader of the Assassin Order--an elite corp of trained assassins, numbering up to the hundred thousands, and answering only to Lord Kane. But, as you may have already guessed, I had to fight my way up to the rank of leader in the Order.

I started off as a novice, with Mercilus at that time being a Journeyman, basically meaning he was almost guaranteed the position of Grandmaster Assassin... That's when we became enemies: since I proved myself to be a superior assassin by defeating all the others, Mercilus thought I stole the position from him.

So he renounced his identity as an Assassin and joined the pirates, but that wasn't the end of it: he opened the gates to the Assassin Stronghold, nearly wiping out my entire Order. Later, he even managed to take me prisoner--by dishonorable means of course--and cut off my hand."

Ulysses paused to jerk the glove off his left hand, revealing the skeletal frame of a hand, or more exactly, the working, mechanical, skeleton frame of a hand, with gears for joints, wires for veins, and metal for bones. 

"Now do you see why he is my sworn enemy?"

The Commodore stared, transfixed by the robotic frame of a hand on his arm.

"He did that to you...?" Her tone then grew deadly serious, and she snapped back into her rigid military manner. "I can see how someone like that cannot be allowed to exist if the Armada is to succeed."

[Ulysses Septimus]

"Indeed he did,"the Lord of Admiralty pulled his glove back down over the mechanical hand, stretching the leather tightly over the fingers. "Do we need any more reason to say he must be eradicated? So, shall we pay a little visit to Bishop now? Find out where that worm is hiding?"

"Yes, I agree, he must be...taken care of...immediately. Shall we go now?"

Ulysses gave a nod and strided back in, walking just slow enough for her to follow.

Once they reached Bishop's lab, he didn't even bother to knock, simply opening it and stepping inside. "Bishop, "Ulysses tapped on the clockwork mage's shoulder, making him flinch slightly, "you found that impudent worm's hideout?"

"Yes, Lord of Admiralty Septimus,"Bishop's voice still had the distasteful tone, though this time he didn't even bother to hide it. "Your foe is holed up in a stronghold on Khotan Isle, in the world of Mooshu."

"Will it be a challenge, getting to him?" Sydney asked, looking towards Ulysses.

[Ulysses Septimus]

"It will be,"Ulysses' voice was dead serious, "Mercilus, when he left, formed his own "Assassin Order" with the pirates, some of which have been known to provide him with weapons and antiseige equipment... But if we fight smart, he would be no match for us."

His red eyes locked onto Bishop, "How many are there?"

"600 men, Lord Ulysses."

Ulysses rubbed his chin, thinking: he has about 70 marines, 50 musketeers, and 40 Dragoons under his command, totally up to 160 troopers in total in the crew of the "Imperial Interceptor", not counting the crews on his other two ships--the super battle cruiser the "Empire" and his true flagship the "Malevolence"--yet if they take more than two ships, it would attract too much attention...

"I think I know what we need to do,"he looked at Sydney, "but I'd like to hear your opinion as well, Commander Underhill: how do YOU think we should get him?"

[Sydney Underhill]

"He has only human soldiers, no clockworks, yes?" Sydney asked, tapping her fingers against the wrist of her opposite hand in thought. "If so...toxins would be effective...maybe in the forms of gas?"

[Ulysses Septimus]

"Indeed, only humans and no clockworks."The Lord of Admiralty confirmed, "and speaking of that reminds me: remember the poison dart launcher attached to your Hidden Blade bracer? The poison would drive any organism it was injected with with insane blood lust, prompting them to attack everyone alive around it, primarily humans, before the poison enters their heart and kills them."

He had originally considered of causing a distraction with the help of his Dragoons, but this plan is sounding more and more appealing as he thought about it: "I have the poison also available in the form of crossbow bolts as well as as gas bombs..."

No one would believe just how much shady connection he has with some of the black market, but what other choice does he had when there is no other place to obtain such poison?

"Ah, yes...so they will finish each other off, and we shall suffer minimal loss...or perhaps no loss at all."

[Ulysses Septimus]

"Yes,"Ulysses stepped out the lab, "and I've made a plan to do just that... If you, Decimus, and Quintus can follow me, Commander."

He never told anyone other than Kane himself, but he had actually built up a titanic armory of different weapons in his mansion over the years, and among them are two sniper rifles specially built for assassination and firing those toxin bullets...

Sydney followed Ulysses, with both Quintus and Decimus trailing behind until they came to the massive armory that Ulysses had stored the poisonous weapons in.

"This..." She looked around, trying to hide the laughter brought on by the sudden adrenaline rush. "They shall suffer, and by their own hands nevertheless."

[Ulysses Septimus]

"They will not see it coming."He hummed as he unlocked the black cabinet against the wall, hefting two long cases the length of rifles out of it.

Setting them on a table, Ulysses snapped open the latch of both cases, revealing two sleek black Armada sniper rifles with silver wave designs etched on them, then turned and unlocked another cabinet filled with boxes of poisonous rounds, taking one of them and setting it on the table as well.

Smiling, the Commodore ran her white-gloved fingers over the sleek black guns.

"They're...beautiful..."
